About the funder

The Kulturstiftung des Freistaates Sachsen was established in 1993 as a legal foundation under public law by the Free State of Saxony and is headquartered in Dresden. It annually supports around 900 projects in the fields of visual arts, performing arts, music, literature, film, socio-culture, and industrial culture, as well as interdisciplinary initiatives, with a total volume exceeding five million euros. Additionally, the foundation awards scholarships, acquires contemporary artworks for the Free State of Saxony, and develops its own funding programs to respond flexibly to social and cultural change. The funds are derived from tax revenues based on the budget approved by the Saxon State Parliament. The foundation works closely with partners in the Free State of Saxony, Germany, and neighboring European countries.
