About the funder

The Lower Saxony Reception Authority (LAB NI) is a subordinate state authority under the auspices of the State of Lower Saxony, headquartered in Braunschweig. It primarily serves as a reception facility for asylum seekers as well as within the framework of special admission programs (e.g., resettlement, temporary protection). At the Grenzdurchgangslager Friedland site ("Gateway to Freedom"), LAB NI also assumes nationwide initial reception of late repatriates and Jewish immigrants from the former Soviet Union. Its core responsibilities include accommodation, care, and social support of residents, conducting identity verifications, accompanying asylum procedures, professional management of municipal accommodation capacities, and promoting voluntary return.
