LEBENSNERV – Stiftung zur Förderung der psychosomatischen MS-Forschung
About the funder
Since 1990, the LEBENSNERV Foundation has been promoting psychosomatic research on multiple sclerosis (MS). It combines a holistic, biopsychosocial perspective of the disease with the peer approach of the self-determined living movement. As a non-profit foundation, LEBENSNERV initiates, supports, and publishes studies, promotes projects on empowerment and peer counseling, and publishes the professional journal "Forum Psychosomatik." Decisions and content are primarily made by those affected, who contribute their experiences as experts in their own cause.

Mission & Vision
LEBENSNERV is committed to researching the psychosomatic connections of MS and strengthening those affected in their self-esteem, self-determination, and resource orientation. We believe in the transformative power of the peer approach: peers actively shape research, counseling, and knowledge transfer to empower people with MS to lead their lives independently and actively.
Target groups
The offerings of the LEBENSNERV Foundation are primarily aimed at people with multiple sclerosis who are interested in a holistic view of their condition. In addition, researchers and professionals from medicine, psychology, and social sciences who wish to address psychosomatic issues related to MS are targeted. Continuing education opportunities (e.g., peer counseling) are available to people affected by MS and individuals with other chronic illnesses who want to acquire peer counseling skills.
