About the funder
The Rehbergheim – Mathilde-Trendel-Stiftung is a 5- and 7-day residential facility for children and adolescents of school age with intellectual and multiple disabilities. The institution has been in existence since 1969 and was extensively renovated and expanded in 2006. Located in an idyllic suburban setting within the Kulmbach recreational area, the Rehbergheim offers a maximum of 16 residential places in two groups, equipped with single and double rooms. The residents are cared for by qualified educational staff and receive interdisciplinary support from curative education nurses, educators, child care workers, special education teachers, and social pedagogues. An in-house kitchen provides freshly prepared meals daily. Therapeutic collaborations exist with speech therapists, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists.

Mission & Vision
"Being different is normal for us!" The Mathilde-Trendel Foundation promotes a holistic, needs-oriented pedagogy that meets the child and adolescent where they are. The goal is to strengthen individual abilities and social skills to enable the greatest possible societal participation. Special emphasis is placed on practical life skills such as independent personal care, household management, handling pocket money, and self-determined leisure activities. In a family-like atmosphere, trust, security, and a respectful coexistence are to be fostered.
Target groups
The Rehbergheim is aimed at children and adolescents of school age with intellectual and multiple disabilities. Admission is granted to individuals diagnosed with intellectual disabilities (including dual diagnoses), psychosocial behavioral disorders, and developmental disorders. Children and adolescents who are not of school age, require acute psychiatric treatment, pose a high risk to others, are dependent on alcohol, drugs, or medication, or have significant impulse control disorders or dissocial personality disorders are not admitted.
