About the funder

The miriam Foundation is a non-profit organization guided by Christian values, founded in 2003 by Christa and Wilhelm Sonnemann in memory of their daughter Miriam, who had Down syndrome. The foundation aims to motivate and support people facing life crises—such as disability, illness, resignation, or social exclusion. It funds projects including child and youth care in East Timor, inclusive music and youth programs (e.g., WDL Media, WDL Musicals), as well as the "InTakt" sponsorship award (2004–2019). Additionally, the foundation publishes "Thoughts for the Day" and other spiritual reflections to offer comfort and encouragement.
