MUT-Stiftung<br>(Maria und Uwe Thomas Carstensen Stiftung)
About the funder
The MUT Foundation was established in 2005 by Maria and Uwe Thomas Carstensen as an independent, legally capable foundation following the sale of their company. Since the 1990s, the founders have been privately committed to social causes both domestically and abroad. The foundation is financed exclusively through its endowment, donations from the founders, and private contributions from friends and acquaintances. Its focus is on supporting already existing nonprofit organizations to ensure that donations have a direct impact on-site without excessive administrative costs. Originally, the emphasis was on supporting women, children, and youth in Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania) and other developing countries. After becoming an independent foundation, the focus shifted to social projects in the hometowns of Hanover and Husum (North Sea). Aid is provided to women, children, youth, seniors, as well as homeless and houseless individuals in need. Additionally, hospices, care facilities, and associations in distress (such as the Ukrainian Association in Lower Saxony) receive regular funding.

The foundation believes in the power of local initiatives and specifically promotes projects that achieve direct and lasting impact.
Target groups
The funding programs of the MUT Foundation are aimed at women, children and youth in need, seniors in distress, homeless and houseless individuals, hospices and care facilities, as well as associations and initiatives in acute emergencies (e.g., Ukrainian Association in Lower Saxony).
