ROTARY STIFTUNG zu LÜBECK

Private foundation

About the funder

The ROTARY FOUNDATION of LÜBECK was established in 2005 by the four Rotary Clubs Lübeck, Lübeck-Burgtor, Lübeck-Holstentor, and Timmendorfer Strand / Lübecker Bucht with an initial capital of €109,000. Its purpose is to inspire and recognize young people up to the age of 27 for voluntary, honorary engagement in the community. Each year, the foundation awards the Rotary Sponsorship Prize with a total prize money of €8,000 to individuals and groups committed to schools, sports clubs, church congregations, cultural initiatives, fire departments, environmental projects, or other areas. Furthermore, in close cooperation with the Lübeck Youth Council (Lübecker Jugendring e. V.), it annually supports the training of up to 50 young people as youth group assistants and leaders.

Mission & Vision

The goal of the Rotary Foundation of Lübeck is to introduce young people to voluntary, unpaid work and to encourage them to engage in special commitment in the interest of the common good. With recognition, support, and networking, we aim to honor Lübeck’s "unsung heroes" and sustainably strengthen their commitment ("Service above self").

Target groups

The funding programs are aimed at committed young people up to the age of 27 as well as groups consisting predominantly of young volunteers. Applications are welcome from all areas of public welfare: environmental and nature conservation, care for the elderly, sports, church, culture, volunteer fire brigade, schools, monument preservation, or non-organized youth groups in the Lübeck area and its surroundings.
