Siebenpfeiffer-Stiftung
About the funder
The Siebenpfeiffer Foundation was established on December 5, 1988, on the initiative of the Saarpfalz district in Homburg. Founders and sponsors are municipal authorities (Saarpfalz district, the cities of Homburg, Zweibrücken, Rastatt, Lahr, Neustadt/Weinstraße), counties (Bad Dürkheim, Kusel, Kaiserslautern), as well as the state associations of Saarland, Rhineland-Palatinate, Baden-Württemberg, and Thuringia within the German Journalists Association. The purpose of this legally recognized private foundation is the scholarly research of the life and work of Philipp Jakob Siebenpfeiffer as well as the historical context of the Vormärz period. Key areas of activity include publications, academic colloquia, seminars, lectures, excursions, exhibitions, and the Siebenpfeiffer Prize, which honors journalists committed to democratic values and press freedom. The foundation is managed on a voluntary basis by a five-year board; the managing director is Martin Baus M.A. (Saarpfalz district). The Siebenpfeiffer Foundation is a member of the German Donation Council (Deutscher Spendenrat e.V.) and is regularly audited according to the principles of proper use of funds.
