Staatskanzlei und Ministerium für Kultur des Landes Sachsen-Anhalt

The State Chancellery and the Ministry of Culture of the State of Saxony-Anhalt are central authorities of the state government. The State Chancellery supports the Minister-President in defining and coordinating political guidelines, consolidates government and administrative work, and represents the state at the federal and EU levels. Since April 2016, it has also been directly responsible for cultural policy: it promotes cultural projects, media work, and international cooperation, coordinates the press and public relations of the state government, and manages statewide issues such as media policy, European cooperation, and cultural funding.

The State Chancellery and the Ministry of Culture of the State of Saxony-Anhalt aim to coordinate the political will formation of the state, strengthen culture as a fundamental pillar of social diversity, and position Saxony-Anhalt as a vibrant, cosmopolitan cultural state. We promote creative initiatives, preserve cultural heritage, and support forward-looking projects to secure and further develop the cultural diversity within the state.

The funding programs and advisory services of the State Chancellery and the Ministry of Culture are aimed at natural persons (individual artists, independent cultural workers), legal entities under public law (e.g., municipalities, libraries, memorial sites), legal entities under private law (e.g., associations, non-profit organizations), as well as projects with a professional or regional connection to Saxony-Anhalt. Projects with the intention of generating profit are excluded. The goal is to strengthen and sustainably develop the cultural and social diversity in the state.
