About the funder
The Municipal Department 22 – Environmental Protection (MA 22) is the central environmental protection authority of the City of Vienna. It is responsible for a wide range of tasks in preventive and integrative climate and environmental protection, including biodiversity promotion, strategic air quality management, nature and landscape conservation, sustainable urban development, noise protection, as well as waste and resource management. MA 22 operates the Vienna air monitoring network and provides official, legislative, and expert services. Furthermore, it coordinates specialized laws such as the Vienna Climate Act, implements renaturation projects (e.g., Breitenlee Nature Reserve), and supports concrete environmental measures in the city through funding programs such as facade greening, green facades against heat effects, OekoBusiness Vienna, and small-scale projects for climate and environment.

Target groups
Eligible to apply for the funding programs of the City of Vienna – Environmental Protection are legal entities (e.g., associations, non-profit organizations), enterprises (excluding financial service providers), university and scientific institutions, as well as private individuals aged 18 and over (for individual grants up to a maximum of €10,000). Projects must have a clear environmental or climate-related focus, be content-wise or geographically related to Vienna, and serve the public interest.
