About the funder

Founded in 2003 in Konstanz on Lake Constance by Eberhard F. Kastner, the Stiftung Bildung und Jugend supports educational initiatives that test and implement scientific findings from learning and motivation research in everyday school life. The focus is on primary and secondary education. Current funded projects such as "Good, Healthy, and Sustainable – Agriculture to Experience" enable students to gain practical experience in sustainable food production. Previously, the foundation supported, among others, the three-year cooperative project "Inclusive Education" for children and adolescents with social-emotional support needs.

Mission & Vision

The Stiftung Bildung und Jugend is committed to a human-centered pedagogy and bridges the gap between learning and motivation research and school practice. Its goal is to sustainably strengthen schools and educational institutions through the implementation of innovative, child- and age-appropriate organizational forms and didactic models.

Target groups

The funding programs are aimed at schools and educational institutions of public and private providers in the primary and secondary school sectors. Projects that enable children and young people to act autonomously and gain practical experience are supported – especially in the areas of sustainable agriculture, inclusion, and socio-emotional learning.
