About the funder
The BISS Foundation was established in November 2008 by the non-profit association BISS – Citizens in Social Distress e. V. with an initial capital of 100,000 euros and is recognized as a legally capable foundation under civil law. It is dedicated to promoting welfare services as well as the education and qualification of people in social distress. The foundation procures and provides affordable housing (currently eleven foundation-owned apartments and additional rented spaces) and supports educational and integration projects both domestically and abroad, such as the construction and operation of a free school with a bakery in the Congo.

Mission & Vision
Our mission is to create sustainable opportunities for disadvantaged individuals by promoting education and qualification as well as providing permanently affordable housing, thereby strengthening their social integration. We combine professional expertise with personal support to enhance individual prospects and enable social participation.
Target groups
The Stiftung BISS is aimed at people facing social difficulties, including homeless and formerly homeless individuals, refugees, families, as well as adolescents and young adults without prospects for education or stable housing. Furthermore, it supports non-profit initiatives that implement projects and measures for the integration, qualification, and accommodation of these target groups.
