Stiftung der Chorherren zu St. Thomae

Private foundation

About the funder

The Stiftung der Chorherren zu St. Thomae was established in Leipzig in 2001 as a legal foundation under civil law. It sees itself as an independent capital foundation that promotes the musical heritage of Johann Sebastian Bach in its spiritual contexts. To this end, it primarily supports the International Bach Festival Leipzig (masses, motets, church services), the Thomanerchor Leipzig and its youth, the educational campus forum thomanum (including villa thomana), as well as educational and cultural events such as composition workshops and organ camps. The foundation makes a significant contribution to the musical diversity and tradition of the Thomana in Leipzig through the financing of ensembles, renovations (e.g., villa thomana, acoustics, sun protection), scholarships, and the provision of rehearsal and teaching rooms.
