The Stiftung Naturschutz im Landkreis Diepholz is a legally recognized foundation under civil law, established in 1984 by the district of Diepholz. It complements official nature conservation measures through long-term funded projects aimed at the development, preservation, and management of nature and landscape. With over 450 managed biotopes covering more than 670 hectares and approximately 520 hectares of its own land throughout the district, it has developed into a nationally recognized institution. Through close cooperation with private landowners, municipal representatives, and nature conservation associations, the foundation implements major projects such as peatland revitalizations, river restorations, and species protection programs.

Mission & Vision
The Stiftung Naturschutz im Landkreis Diepholz is committed to the preservation, restoration, and sustainable management of diverse habitats. Our goal is to promote biodiversity through projects and programs, to connect local stakeholders, and to create long-term funding opportunities for nature conservation initiatives. We believe in the power of cooperation among authorities, associations, and citizens to preserve the native landscape in all its diversity.
Target groups
Our funding programs are primarily aimed at private landowners in the Diepholz district, municipal authorities, and nature conservation organizations that wish to implement measures in nature and landscape conservation. In addition, we offer schools excursions and informational events and support research institutes that study ecological projects such as peatland development, wet meadow management, and Sphagnum paludiculture. Through this, we aim to engage both specialists and the general public in nature conservation.
