About the funder

The STIFTUNG ÜBERBRÜCKEN was established on May 8, 2007, in Berlin and is a non-profit foundation with the goal of securing peace in the long term through the processing and overcoming of individual and societal traumas resulting from war and persecution. Since its recognition as a legal foundation in 2009, it has organized informational and training events, moderated discussion groups, psychotherapeutic services, and cultural projects. The foundation primarily collaborates with the association südost Europa Kultur e.V. and is financed exclusively from the interest income of the foundation's capital (currently: €70,000) as well as from donations.

Mission & Vision

The STIFTUNG ÜBERBRÜCKEN believes in the healing power of the spoken word and is committed to supporting traumatized individuals in their journey toward psychological recovery. With volunteer psychotherapists, historians, lawyers, and cultural as well as social scientists, it raises societal awareness of the burdens caused by war experiences, promotes intercultural dialogue, and supports those affected through training programs, lecture series, and therapist seminars.

Target groups

The funding programs of the STIFTUNG ÜBERBRÜCKEN are aimed at traumatized individuals, particularly war refugees from the former Yugoslavia, Syria, Iraq, Ukraine, and other conflict regions; psychotherapists, social workers, educators, and professionals in trauma treatment and integration work; as well as civil society actors and volunteers who wish to promote understanding, tolerance, and reconciliation.
