Stiftung Wald schafft Zukunft

Private foundation

About the funder

The Stiftung Wald schafft Zukunft is a non-profit private foundation based in Neuruppin (Brandenburg). Founded in 2018 by Wilfried Hälker, it is dedicated to promoting educational opportunities in the Global South – particularly in Zambia, the DR Congo, and Madagascar – as well as environmental protection in Germany. The focus is on supporting educational and training projects in Africa to realize the human right to education and increase participation in a self-determined life path. Furthermore, the foundation promotes the transformation of its foundation forest (536 ha) in Brandenburg into near-natural, species-rich mixed forests and insect protection in Baden-Württemberg. All projects are implemented according to the principles of sustainability and self-help, regardless of political or religious beliefs.

Mission & Vision

Our mission is to contribute sustainably to the preservation of natural resources and the development of individual potential through sustainable forestry and international educational projects in the Global South. We believe in the transformative power of education and nature conservation and support people and ecosystems in Germany and Africa with a partnership-based commitment and transparency.

Target groups

The foundation directs its funding primarily towards children, adolescents, and young adults in the Global South (particularly in Zambia, the DR Congo, and Madagascar) who require improved access to school and vocational education. Additionally, local nature conservation and environmental initiatives in Brandenburg and Baden-Württemberg are among the beneficiaries, benefiting from sustainable forest conversion and biodiversity projects.
