Stiftung zum Erhalt und zur Förderung des aramäischen Kulturerbes
About the funder
The Foundation for the Preservation and Promotion of the Aramaic Heritage is a private foundation established in 2005 by Arameans living in Germany, dedicated to the protection, preservation, and revival of the Aramaic language, culture, and tradition. Motivated by concerns over the progressive disappearance of Aramaic culture as a result of the diaspora, the foundation pursues a broad range of measures in accordance with UNESCO guidelines on cultural diversity and intangible cultural heritage. These include scientific projects, development aid in the historic core region of Tur Abdin, exhibitions, publications, language courses, and political advocacy.

Mission & Vision
The foundation's mission is to preserve the more than two-thousand-year-old Aramaic cultural heritage as an identity-forming linguistic and cultural asset and to revive it in the diaspora – especially in Europe. Through the promotion of educational and research projects, support for churches and monasteries in Tur Abdin, as well as cultural-political engagement, it is committed to maintaining Aramaic as a living language and cultural tradition.
Target groups
The funding opportunities are aimed at the Aramaic diaspora in Germany and worldwide, at academic institutions and students of Semitic studies, at churches and monasteries in Tur Abdin, as well as at communities and initiatives engaged in the preservation, transmission, and research of the Aramaic language and culture. Additionally, the foundation addresses political decision-makers, museums, educational institutions, and the general public to raise awareness of the endangered cultural heritage.
