About the funder
The Von Behring-Röntgen Foundation is a legally recognized foundation under civil law, headquartered in the Landgrafenschloss in Marburg. It was established on September 8, 2006, in the course of the merger and privatization of the university hospitals of Gießen and Marburg. With an endowment of 100 million euros, it is one of the largest medical foundations in Germany. Since then, it has been supporting scientifically high-ranking projects and young researchers in university medicine at Philipps University of Marburg and Justus Liebig University of Gießen.

Mission & Vision
"Giving hope for a cure – that is what drives us." The foundation supports innovative research projects in the fields of heart and lung diseases, antibiotic resistance, neurological disorders, and virus research. It regards its funding as a worthwhile investment in the well-being and medical progress of society.
Target groups
The funding programs are aimed at early-career researchers and professors from both university hospitals in Marburg and Gießen. Support is provided for collaborative research projects as well as outstanding scientific work by young scientists (up to 35 years old) in clinical and translational medicine. The foundation awards scholarships, prizes, and project funds for initiatives with high societal relevance.
