About the funder

The Sudeten German Foundation is a legal foundation under public law based in Munich, established by a Bavarian state law in 1970. It pursues charitable purposes, in particular the care and preservation of Sudeten German cultural heritage. As the sponsor of the Sudeten German House and the Sudeten German Museum, it manages exhibitions, a scientific specialized library, and other facilities, maintains collections, and promotes cultural projects. The foundation independently manages its assets and uses income as well as donations to fulfill its foundation's purpose.

Committed to justice – sworn to freedom – serving peace! The Sudetendeutsche Stiftung builds bridges to our neighbors and to Sudeten Germans worldwide. We are dedicated to preserving our cultural heritage and promoting education, research, and intercultural dialogue to deepen understanding between Germans, Czechs, and other Central Europeans.

Target groups

The funding provided by the Sudeten German Foundation is aimed at the Sudeten German ethnic group, their descendants, and all those interested in the history, culture, and cultural heritage of the Bohemian lands. Its target group includes scientific institutions, cultural practitioners, research facilities, as well as the general public in Bavaria, Germany, and internationally, who participate in exhibitions, library collections, and cultural events.
