About the funder
The Vector Foundation was established in 2011 as a corporate-affiliated, non-profit foundation under civil law. It holds 60% of the shares of Vector Informatik GmbH and finances its funding activities from the dividends of this investment. With an average funding volume of €12 million per year, it supports around 150 projects in the fields of research, education, and social engagement in Baden-Württemberg. Since its inception, it has invested more than €100 million in technology-scientific research projects, STEM education, and measures to combat housing and youth unemployment. Over 75% of the budget is allocated to STEM research and STEM education.

Mission & Vision
The Vector Foundation aims to sustainably strengthen the economic and high-technology location of Baden-Württemberg and counteract the shortage of STEM professionals. Through targeted support of research, education, and social engagement, it pursues the goal of advancing innovative technology-science projects, promoting STEM competencies, and improving social participation of disadvantaged groups. It relies on collaborative partnerships to achieve greater impact together.
Target groups
The funding programs of the Vector Foundation are aimed at research-intensive universities, colleges, and non-university research institutions in Baden-Württemberg that wish to implement innovative STEM projects or climate and environmental protection initiatives. In the education sector, the foundation supports general education schools, STEM teachers, and programs designed to inspire students in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and engineering. In the area of social engagement, it funds civil society actors and projects committed to the integration of disadvantaged youth as well as homeless people in the region.
