The "auf Augenhöhe" Fund promotes civic engagement and advocates for greater diversity, respect, and social cohesion. With the goal of enabling a respectful and empathetic dialogue between different social groups, the fund supports initiatives that offer intercultural training, volunteer language courses, or workshops on legal issues and understanding of democracy. The flexible funding concept deliberately avoids rigid deadlines and complex procedures, allowing applicants and their partners ample (free) space to shape their projects independently. The program is aimed nationwide at non-profit organizations, specifically community foundations and Houses of Resources, whose commitment strengthens social cohesion.

The funding program is based on high-quality standards, which can be demonstrated by a quality seal from the Association of German Foundations or equivalent eligibility for such certification. Eligible expenses include, in addition to fees, necessary material costs, ensuring that financial support can be optimally used for the development and implementation of sustainable projects. With funding amounts ranging from €3,000 to €5,000 per project, the fund deliberately sets impulses to secure the exchange of experiences and create broader participation opportunities. The initiative particularly supports projects that focus on refugees and other disadvantaged groups, thereby contributing to mutual understanding within the community.

The fund’s innovative concept is characterized by extensive flexibility in the application process and the waiver of extensive reporting obligations, enabling quick and uncomplicated funding implementation. Through the sustainable orientation of the funding criteria, not only immediate needs are addressed, but also continuous reflection and further development of the measures are facilitated. Thus, the fund makes an important contribution to strengthening social cohesion and supports the development of projects that significantly promote respectful interaction and participation of all individuals in Germany.
