The training allowance of the August Schmidt Foundation is aimed at orphans of employees from the organizational area of the IGBCE, whose parents have died as a result of a work accident, its late effects, or a recognized occupational disease. The nationwide available grant program supports young people up to the age of 27 in educational responsibilities as well as training and further education measures. By continuously providing funding, the foundation contributes to strengthening equal opportunities and sustainably securing educational pathways. In cases of particular hardship, the foundation's board may approve additional financial assistance to compensate for individual life circumstances and ensure successful training.

Funding is provided to private individuals who meet the criteria – orphan status within the IGBCE environment, age up to 27 years, and the death of the parents due to a work accident, its consequential damages, or an occupational disease. Applications can be submitted at any time, ensuring flexible and tailored support. The foundation places great importance on a straightforward approval process so that grants reach the eligible applicants promptly. Interested parties receive all necessary information regarding the purpose of funding, scope of support, and application procedures directly from the foundation’s secretariat.
