Description
The funding measure of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) in North Rhine-Westphalia supports the needs-based equipment and modernization of vocational training and further education institutions with a focus on digital technologies, environmentally friendly processes, and biotechnologies. The goal is to impart competencies for the development, production, and application of "critical technologies" and thus counteract the shortage of skilled workers in key industries. For this purpose, grants of up to 90% are available for investments in workshops, laboratories, and digital teaching and learning spaces. Funding is provided particularly for laboratory equipment, machinery and tools, testing and trial facilities, technical devices, as well as IT resources (hardware and software including licenses). New constructions or extensions as well as energy-related renovations are excluded from funding. The project duration is limited to a maximum of 24 months, and eligible total expenditures must amount to at least 200,000 euros. Applications can be submitted continuously as long as budget funds are available.
Eligible to apply are public and private legal entities responsible for vocational training and further education, inter-company training centers, as well as universities predominantly used for vocational further education, which guarantee non-discriminatory access and offer innovative training and further education concepts related to critical technologies. The selection process evaluates the conceptual approach, implementation strategy, appropriateness of resource use, model character and transferability, contributions to gender equality, non-discrimination, sustainability, and innovation fields of the Regional Innovation Strategy NRW, as well as the improvement of skilled labor development. Applications are submitted online via the ERDF-NRW portal system or in writing to the District Government of Arnsberg. Submission requires the application form, project description, cost and financing plan, as well as proof of institution and legal status.
