Description
Ballin Meerzeit of the Rudolf Ballin Foundation e.V. is aimed at disadvantaged children and adolescents aged 4 to 16 from Hamburg living in challenging circumstances. As a four- to five-week, residential psychosocial support program at the North and Baltic Seas, it creates an educational protective environment where participants can distance themselves from everyday stress and be strengthened both physically and mentally. A multidisciplinary team of educators and psychologists accompanies groups of 12 to 14 children or adolescents, promotes social and emotional skills, and offers age-appropriate preschool and school instruction. Experiential educational activities on the beach and in the forest, relaxation exercises, and balanced nutrition foster resilience and support the establishment of a structured daily routine.
Funding is provided as a 100% grant from the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg; there are no costs for Hamburg families. Applications can be submitted at any time through professionals in youth welfare, schools, daycare centers, or healthcare. Requirements include residence in Hamburg, age between 4 and 16 years, and consent from the legal guardians. A fully completed application form, the signed consent form, and the stamp of the applying institution form the basis for prompt placement allocation. Assignment is made based on psychosocial need, urgency of intervention, and age-appropriate group composition. Upon completion, parents and professionals receive a detailed development report with recommendations for sustainable reintegration into family, daycare, and school.
