Construction measures on club sports facilities

In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, a grant scheme supports the modernization, renovation, new construction, expansion, and conversion of club-owned sports facilities. In addition to structural investments, funding is also provided for sports equipment to create attractive and contemporary training and competition venues. The program aims to sustainably strengthen grassroots sports through improved infrastructure access and barrier-free use. In cities such as Rostock, Schwerin, Neubrandenburg, Stralsund, and Greifswald, financing is provided from state funds, while in all other municipalities, EU EAFRD funds are utilized. The maximum funding amount is generally up to €100,000, with exceptions up to €500,000 for projects demonstrating proven state interest. Funding rates vary depending on the grant, with 60% for larger construction projects and up to 90% for projects with net costs up to €33,000.

Eligible recipients are non-profit organizations and public institutions, particularly sports clubs and associations with full membership in the State Sports Federation of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. A prerequisite is proof of a sports-related need as well as ownership of the club property or a lease agreement of at least 25 years (for amounts under €10,000, at least 10 years). Furthermore, secured overall financing must be demonstrated. Applications are submitted via the responsible district or city sports federation to the State Sports Federation by August 31 of the previous year. Required documents include the information application, a cost estimate according to DIN 276 or three comparable offers, a usage plan, proof of ownership, and financing confirmations. Project evaluation is based on sports-related need, secured financing, and regional state interest. Through this funding, clubs can modernize their infrastructure and offer competitive sports programs in the long term.
