Description
The state contribution for prophylactic animal health measures in Vorarlberg supports holders of cattle, sheep, goats, and pigs in implementing animal health-promoting standards that go beyond the legal minimum requirements. As part of the state strategy "Landwirt.schafft.Leben," the fund helps to prevent animal diseases proactively and sustainably strengthen animal welfare. Additional expenses arising from special hygiene, management, and husbandry measures are partially compensated. With an annual budget of around 3 million euros, the state provides a financial contribution through a direct subsidy to energy efficiency, climate protection, as well as animal welfare in agriculture and rural development.
Funding is provided to Vorarlberg animal holders who are members of the Animal Health Fund and submit an annual farm survey cover sheet in accordance with Annex 3 of the Animal Health Service Ordinance 2009. Applications can be submitted continuously; calculations, approvals, and payments are made each December. Applying entrepreneurs and private individuals benefit from transparent funding requirements and a simple procedure, in which the necessary documents – especially the farm survey cover sheet – are submitted via the responsible Department of Agriculture and Rural Areas of the State Government. Through this targeted incentivization of health-oriented measures, the initiative contributes to strengthening regional agriculture and ensuring high animal health standards.
