Description
The contribution from the State of Vorarlberg for General Animal Health Measures supports prophylactic health programs for cattle, sheep, goats, and pigs. Through the Animal Health Fund, the Board reimburses part of the additional costs incurred by animal keepers for measures that go beyond the legal standard, in accordance with the Animal Health Fund Act. The aim is to sustainably prevent animal diseases, increase biosafety, and secure the quality of animal products in the long term. The budget volume of 2.5 million euros per year ensures continuous funding without fixed deadlines, thereby creating flexible application opportunities.
Eligible for funding are both private and commercial animal keepers in Vorarlberg, provided they meet the defined animal health promotion criteria. Only additional expenses for preventive measures such as extended vaccination programs, improved hygiene and stable management concepts, or monitoring measures are supported. The processing is carried out by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Areas in the Office of the Vorarlberg State Government, which is responsible for managing the funding in accordance with EU and state law. These grants motivate animal keepers to actively contribute to animal welfare beyond the legal minimum requirements and thus strengthen animal health overall in the Vorarlberg region.
