Contribution of the State for General Animal Health Measures

The contribution of the State of Vorarlberg for General Animal Health Measures supports prophylactic health strategies to prevent animal diseases and thereby promotes sustainable development in agriculture. Through the Animal Health Fund (TGF), grants are provided to offset additional expenses for animal health-promoting criteria that exceed the legal minimum standard. Eligible for funding are private individuals as well as companies operating animal husbandry in Vorarlberg. With a total budget of 3 million euros, the state ensures that innovative and preventive measures – from special hygiene concepts to preventive examinations – can be implemented. The decision on cost coverage lies with the Board of Trustees of the Animal Health Fund, while the Animal Health Advisory Board acts in an advisory capacity.

Applications can be submitted continuously, allowing animal keepers to benefit from the support at any time. A prerequisite is compliance with and documentation of animal health-promoting criteria above the legal standard. All verifiable additional expenses for prophylactic animal health measures are funded, ranging from medication costs and diagnostic tests to special feed or hygiene facilities. This funding not only enhances animal welfare and biosafety but also minimizes health risks for consumers.
