Subsidy for a literary event by Bayern liest e. V.

The literary event is supported by Bayern liest e. V. on behalf of the State Ministry for Science and the Arts and is aimed at authors as well as organizers in Bavaria. The goal is to strengthen the local cultural offering through readings in public libraries, non-profit public institutions, and bookstores. Private individuals, educational institutions, foundations, associations, and interest groups can apply for a grant, provided the event takes place in Bavaria and on-site readings are feasible. Funding is project-based and aims at direct encounters between writers and audiences to promote literary diversity and cultural participation.

Eligible costs include fees, travel expenses, accommodation, and daily allowances up to 50% of the incurred costs: a fixed amount of up to €220 for the first reading, €110 for each additional reading, a maximum of 50% of travel costs (2nd class train or €0.26/km by car), up to €20 per overnight stay, and up to €10 per day. Framework programs or participants such as speakers and musicians are not eligible for funding. Applications can be submitted online on an ongoing basis. The following documents must be submitted: grant application, current grant guidelines, and fee and travel expense statement. After the event, the final accounting must be submitted within four weeks; otherwise, the claim expires. These continuously available funds offer initiators a straightforward way to sustainably realize literary encounters in Bavaria.
