Description

Since 2018, the OHDE Foundation has been supporting an innovative coaching program at the Kepler Secondary School Neukölln, which specifically assists students with increased support needs. Student teachers act as mentors in subject lessons, relieving teachers and enabling individual guidance on an equal footing. Through this regular support, linguistic, social, and academic barriers are identified early and overcome together. The cooperation with the renowned focal school and the recognition as an internship strengthen the practical training of future teachers: they acquire intercultural sensitivity and pedagogical expertise, while the participants experience sustainable learning motivation and equal opportunities.

The OHDE Foundation provides an annual grant of €4,000 for a duration of twelve months to continuously guarantee the program. Funding is exclusively granted to non-profit, public, or educational institutions that operate in direct partnership with the Kepler Secondary School. The goal is to secure long-term academic success and reduce social barriers. Regular reflection sessions offer space for evaluation and concept development, through which the program is continuously optimized. This sustainable model not only promotes individual learning achievements but also makes a valuable contribution to strengthening the education system in a social hotspot of Berlin.
