Village Renewal

Village Renewal in Rhineland-Palatinate promotes the sustainable development of rural municipalities as a municipal self-administration task. The goal is to strengthen the inner development of local municipalities in order to create livable and economically attractive village centers. With the active involvement of citizens, guiding principles are developed that take into account demographic change and sustainability requirements. The state of Rhineland-Palatinate supports financial expenditures for comprehensive planning of renewal measures as well as the modernization and repurposing of private building stock. As part of rural structural policy, the program contributes to improving working and living conditions in agriculture and regional businesses and securing public services.

Eligible for funding are all local municipalities in Rhineland-Palatinate as well as owners of private buildings in rural areas. Grants can be applied for continuously and cover expenses particularly for village renewal planning and the renovation or repurposing of private building stock. The funds are provided under the administrative regulation “Promotion of Village Renewal” (VV-Dorf) and are available to both public institutions and private individuals. The financial support aims to implement structural projects that strengthen village centers and contribute to regional economic development. Local municipalities and citizens thereby receive a sustainable basis for shaping attractive living and working environments in rural areas.
