Description
Earlier and More Precise Palliative Care for Cancer Patients is a funding instrument of the European Union that supports innovative models and digital tools with a total grant of €5 million at a 100% funding rate. Consortia consisting of at least three independent legal entities from EU member states or associated countries are eligible for funding – including companies, educational institutions, non-profit, and public organizations. Over a three-year project period, research initiatives and demonstration projects are to be implemented that ensure early, personalized, and integrated palliative care. The focus is on AI-supported prognostic methods and digital remote tools to close care gaps and optimize information exchange between those affected, their relatives, and clinical staff. Clinical studies in real-world care settings are part of the implementation research to validate effectiveness and practical applicability. Submissions – including project description, financial plan, CVs, and consortium declaration – are possible until 15 September 2026.
The direct target groups are cancer patients with high palliative care needs, their informal caregivers, as well as clinical care and scientific institutions. Eligible expenses include personnel, material, and travel costs, equipment, and services from subcontractors. Real estate acquisitions and retrospective costs are excluded. Evaluation is based on the criteria of excellence, impact, and quality and efficiency of implementation. Within the program cluster “Supporting the implementation of the Cancer Mission,” synergistic networking meetings and joint activities are planned. Successful projects will also have the opportunity to network within the EU Cancer Mission’s “Quality of Life” project network. Further information on the call and the required forms can be found on the EU Funding & Tenders Portal.
