ERDF Bavaria – Investments by SMEs

The ERDF funding in Bavaria supports small and medium-sized commercial enterprises in sustainably growing in structurally weaker regions and securing their competitiveness. Financial grants are provided for construction, expansion, and modernization projects at commercial business locations, which both increase productivity and introduce innovations. A central objective is to preserve existing jobs, create future-proof employment opportunities, and minimize migration to urban centers. This funding is particularly significant for craft businesses, industrial companies, accommodation and gastronomy enterprises, as well as service providers in the less developed regions of Bavaria.

Eligible to apply are all small and medium-sized enterprises that have their location in one of the defined ERDF focus areas of Bavaria and can demonstrate SME status. Investments for conversion, rationalization, or fundamental modernization as well as expansions of existing production and service facilities are supported. Selection is based on established criteria: contribution to growth and productivity increase, diversification of the service offering, market-effective application of innovative technologies, as well as creation and securing of jobs. Applications can be submitted continuously and are processed through the respective district governments.
