Description

Within the framework of the EAFRD program 2023–2027, the "Forest Infrastructure" program supports the improvement of forestry access and protective infrastructure in all nine federal states of Austria. The objective is the implementation of CAP intervention 73-03, which primarily supports the construction and maintenance of forest roads as well as the establishment of timber storage sites. Furthermore, targeted investments for the prevention and mitigation of natural hazards such as floods, mudflows, or avalanches are promoted. Eligible for funding are companies, associations, clubs, public institutions, and comparable bodies, in particular agricultural and forestry enterprises, forest owner associations, agricultural communities, and municipalities.

Funding is provided as a grant at variable rates ranging from 35% to 80% of eligible expenses (investment, material, and project-related personnel costs). Applicants must present all required permits (e.g., according to forestry and water law as well as nature conservation regulations) and submit forest management plans for forest areas of 100 ha or more. A written consent from the landowner, technical project documentation according to the state of the art, as well as, for natural hazard measures, an official confirmation of public interest are also mandatory. Projects must not be already legally required. Submission of project outlines, financing plans, legal permits, management plans, landowner consents, and technical documents is possible at any time, but no later than December 31, 2027, via the Digital Funding Platform. Interested parties benefit from a nationwide uniform evaluation scheme and ongoing calls until the deadline.
