Description

ELER 2023–2027: Nature Conservation in Carinthia
From January 1, 2024, a cross-regional funded measure in Carinthia will specifically support projects aimed at the preservation, restoration, and improvement of biological diversity and natural heritage. Funding is provided for investments in valuable habitats, landscape-defining cultural structures, invasive neobiota management, as well as the acquisition and securing of areas of conservation significance. At the same time, the professional development of cooperations that pool expertise and jointly develop innovative concepts is supported. The funding rate amounts to 100% of the documented personnel, material, and investment costs. Eligible applicants include natural and legal persons, partnerships, as well as associations and public law bodies implementing nature conservation projects, cooperative initiatives, or knowledge transfer measures in Carinthia. Prerequisites include professional qualification (e.g., Ö-Cert), proof of economic viability, and—in the case of land acquisition—the land register-based securing through easement or proof of ownership. Projects must be in line with the Austrian CAP Strategic Plan 2023–2027 and implemented within 36 months.

The selection follows clearly defined evaluation criteria: contribution to achieving the CAP Plan objectives, degree of innovation, as well as the professional relevance and sustainability of the nature conservation measures. Eligible costs include expenses for personnel, material resources, and structural or technical investments, but exclude costs for meeting legal standards, non-funded preliminary expenses, or costs incurred before January 1, 2023. Submissions are accepted continuously via the AMA Digital Funding Platform; a financing and schedule plan as well as a precise project description must be attached. With a total budget of €7.26 million, this program offers the opportunity to effectively implement regionally anchored nature conservation initiatives and to strengthen Carinthia’s biological diversity in the long term.
