The funding is intended for investment in the production, storage, and distribution of bioenergy from renewable raw materials, including active participation in bioenergy companies as well as the development of storage facilities and distribution networks.

- Eligible for funding are storage and distribution systems, provided that production is eligible for funding under the Energy from the State – Sun, Wind, Water, or Bioenergy programs

Description
The program Energy from the State – Bioenergy provides low-interest loans in Baden-Württemberg for companies investing in the production, storage, and distribution of bioenergy from sustainable biomass. Investment costs for facilities such as biogas plants, biomethane plants, or wood gasification plants are supported, as well as the development of storage systems and regional distribution networks. Financing of up to EUR 10 million per company per year can be obtained, with a funding rate of up to 100% of eligible expenses possible. The goal is to strengthen climate-friendly energy production and expand decentralized structures for regional value creation in rural areas.
Eligible for funding are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as defined by the EU, with investment projects in Baden-Württemberg that generate, store, or distribute renewable energy from biomass fuels. Active participations in bioenergy companies are also eligible, provided that management is conducted by entrepreneurs from agricultural primary production, forestry or fisheries, or the agricultural and food industry. Facilities that already receive EEG or KWKG subsidies are supported only under aid-free conditions. Excluded from funding are companies in difficulty, pure acquisitions of company shares, debt restructuring, as well as standalone off-grid systems. Applications can be submitted at any time through a house bank and require, among other documents, the funding application, the program information sheet, an investment and financing plan, and proof of SME status.
