Description
The funding program Renewable Process Energy supports companies, interest groups, associations, and non-profit organizations throughout Austria in converting existing production facilities and processes to renewable energy sources and green electricity. The goal is to significantly increase the share of renewable energy in industrial process operations, reduce CO₂ emissions, and simultaneously improve economic efficiency. The initiative is specifically aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that make a minimum investment of €30,000 and aim to save at least 4 tons of CO₂ annually. In addition to investment costs for plant conversion, planning costs (up to a maximum of 10%), dismantling and disposal costs, as well as structural modifications and material-related in-house contributions, are eligible for funding.
The funding rates vary depending on company size and project scope between 30% and 50% of eligible expenses, with a ceiling of up to €6 million per project. A prerequisite for application is submission prior to the first legally binding order, delivery, or start of construction. The decisive criteria for awarding funding are the achieved CO₂ savings, the share of renewable energy in the overall process, and the economic viability of the measure. The funding period extends from 01.03.2024 to 31.12.2050. Interested organizations are encouraged to submit detailed technical, economic, and environmental documentation online to Kommunalkredit Public Consulting to position their production climate-friendly for the future.
