Renewable Process Energy

The funding supports companies, interest groups, associations, non-profit organizations, as well as public institutions based in Austria in the conversion and retrofitting of existing production facilities and processes to renewable energy sources – including green electricity. The goal is to replace fossil energy sources such as natural gas or heating oil with sustainable alternatives and to increase the share of renewable energy in industrial operations. Designed as a grant, the program offers continuously available nationwide funds for investment, assembly, and installation costs as well as dismantling and disposal costs of fossil fuel systems. Planning costs of up to 10% of the tangible investment costs are also eligible for funding. Both small enterprises and large companies, as well as denominational and other entrepreneurial organizations aiming to significantly reduce their ecological footprint, are supported.

Applications can be submitted online at any time before the first legally binding order, delivery, or start of construction. A prerequisite is an applicant based in Austria. Eligible investments include, among others, process burners, combustion systems for renewable energy sources, and upgrades for green electricity procurement including necessary infrastructure reinforcements. Submission requires a technical description of the measure, a dated datasheet with energy and performance balance, detailed cost breakdowns or quotes, proof of green electricity use or self-generated electricity, and for investments exceeding €500,000, a report from the credit institution. This funding offer relies on a fast and straightforward process to enable companies to promptly switch to climate-friendly process energy and pave the way for sustainable production chains in Austria.
