Description

The funding program "Establishment, Expansion, and Modernization of Enterprises" by Wirtschaftsagentur Burgenland GmbH is aimed at small businesses, medium-sized companies, as well as – for initial investments – large enterprises with an operational site in Burgenland. It includes non-repayable grants ranging from 10% to 20% of eligible project costs and supports investments for the establishment or significant expansion of production and service companies. Eligible expenses include machinery, technical equipment, construction costs, intangible assets (patents, licenses, software), as well as operational and business equipment. The objective is innovative technology orientation, enhancing competitiveness, and the sustainable creation and preservation of jobs. A special focus is placed on regional economic significance, environmental compatibility, and strengthening non-central regions in Burgenland.

Companies may submit applications continuously until December 31, 2026; the project start date must be after the application submission. The minimum project amount is €10,000 net, and €300,000 in the case of ERDF co-financing. Required documents include a detailed funding application with a comprehensive cost breakdown, financial statements for the last three years, trade license, employee verification from the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK), and – for larger projects – a business and project concept including a forecast calculation. In the case of ERDF funding, additional submission of employment indicators and a questionnaire on sustainability and equal opportunities is required. Selection criteria are based on the degree of innovation, technology orientation, job creation, regional relevance, and competitiveness. Upon positive decision, a funding contract is concluded, which includes, among other conditions, a retention period of three to five years at the project location.
