First-time construction of combined pipelines for water supply systems and first-time construction of combined sewers upon decommissioning of wastewater treatment plants

The Free State of Bavaria supports municipal authorities, interest groups, and associations in the initial construction of interconnected pipelines for water supply systems as well as interconnected channels in the course of decommissioning sewage treatment plants. The aim is to avert unreasonable financial and infrastructural burdens in hardship cases in accordance with the RZWas 2025 guidelines. Construction costs for pipeline and channel construction are funded with a fixed amount of €200 net per meter and a funding rate of up to 70%, but not exceeding €3 million. Only projects not yet started, which are evidenced by a hardship case certificate according to No. 2.2.2 RZWas 2025, are eligible for funding. Applications are submitted continuously to the locally responsible Water Management Office; the grant payment is possible once annually upon submission of a confirmation of use.

Interested cities, municipalities, and municipal associations can submit the funding application using the form Muster 1a according to Art. 44 BayHO. The measures promote environmental and nature conservation, sustainable infrastructure, as well as energy efficiency and climate protection. The competent approval authority is the State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection, technically represented by the regional Water Management Office. After a positive review, the funding notice is issued and the measure is officially included in the hardship program. From the outset, this funding offer supports Bavarian water and wastewater infrastructure to ensure long-term secure and efficient supply solutions for citizens.
