Description
The European Partnership for Sustainable Food Systems for People, Planet and Climate aims to address the complex challenges of European food systems through a holistic food-systems approach. Priority is given to identifying levers to increase sustainability by changing household dietary habits, promoting trust and transparency along the value chain, and advancing circular processes in food processing. Projects can either focus as an Exploratory Research Project on fundamental analyses or as an Accelerating Innovation Project on application-oriented solutions. The funding measure also places special emphasis on synergies with existing EU initiatives to maximize impact on climate, biodiversity, and health alike.
Interested parties are transnational consortia from at least three different EU Member States, comprising universities, research institutions, small and medium-sized enterprises, non-profit organizations, or public bodies. Eligible costs include, among others, personnel expenses, consumables for research and development, travel costs, dissemination and communication measures, as well as equipment and infrastructure costs. Excluded are expenses for primary production and projects primarily focused on nutrition-related diseases. Submission is two-stage: pre-proposals must be submitted by 11.02.2026 and full proposals by 27.07.2026 via the electronic submission system. Project start is possible from 01.12.2026. Applications will be evaluated by independent experts based on the criteria of Excellence, Impact, and Equality and efficiency of implementation. Further details on funding conditions and deadlines are available in the Call Announcement.
