Description
The EZ Small Projects Fund of the North-South Bridges Foundation supports development policy small projects of non-profit associations from Berlin and the East German federal states in DAC countries with BMZ funds. Eligible for funding are registered associations (e.V.) that, in cooperation with local partners, directly contribute to improving material living conditions and strengthening capacity building on site. Projects can be funded with up to €50,000 (in three funding lines F10 to F50) and include investment measures, operating expenses, personnel costs, as well as travel expenses. The funding rate is 75% depending on the context, and up to 90% in selected crisis or conflict regions. Emergency and disaster relief, purely cultural projects, institutional support of partner organizations, or deployment of German personnel are not funded. A duration of up to 12 months allows flexible implementation, accompanied by regular qualification offers on application submission and proof of use.
Project applications can be submitted continuously, always by the 20th of the month; projects over €10,000 are decided upon in six board meetings annually. The application includes Part A (carrier verification), Part B (project application), Part C (financing plan), partner requirements, child protection policy, and sample contract. Evaluation criteria include immediacy of impact, capacity building, sustainability, promotion of women, as well as environmental and resource protection. The fund relies on participatory partnerships to expand civil society engagement and strengthen development policy competencies of East German NGOs. Upon completion and positive review of the proof of use, a formal discharge closes the funding cycle and paves the way for follow-up applications.
