Description
The family allowance from accident insurance for institutional care provides continuous financial support in Vienna for relatives of persons who are hospitalized due to a work accident or an occupational disease. Eligible close relatives receive a daily allowance amounting to 1.6% of the monthly assessment base for the first eligible person and 0.4% for each additional person, with the total benefit capped at 2.8%. If suitable family members are not available, a daily allowance of 1% is granted instead. Kindergarten children as well as pupils and students are excluded from receiving the benefit.
This subsidy objective ensures that home care during extended accident recovery periods does not fail due to financial barriers. Prerequisites include the provision of institutional care at the expense of the accident insurance carrier or the health insurance due to a work accident or occupational disease, as well as the waiver of receiving a statutory pension or more than 50% of the full monetary and in-kind benefits. The application can be submitted continuously, ensuring rapid coverage in case of need. This regulation strengthens the social and health care of affected individuals and their families in Vienna without bureaucratic additional effort through fixed deadlines.
