Description
The Film Fund Vienna continuously supports the project development, production, and exploitation of cinema and television productions in the city of Vienna. Applications can be submitted at any time and remain valid indefinitely. Funding is provided to artistically and film-economically qualified companies, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, public bodies, and founders who achieve a demonstrable cultural impact and a Vienna film industry effect. The goal is to strengthen Vienna as an internationally recognized film and media location through innovative feature films, documentaries, and series formats. Special emphasis is placed on gender budgeting, gender equality, as well as environmental and sustainability aspects, which are to be implemented in accordance with the Austrian eco-label "Green Producing in Film and Television."
Eligible expenses include project development costs, production and exploitation costs, personnel expenses, material and travel costs. Real estate acquisitions and debt repayment are not eligible. Applicants may be natural or legal persons regardless of residence, provided a business establishment in Vienna is demonstrated. Production companies and emerging teams with a focus on women and people with a migration background are given special consideration. Required documents include the application form, project description, financing concept, screenplay or concept, crew and cast lists, as well as proof of the Vienna film industry effect. The independent jury evaluates based on cultural impact, gender-equitable casting, sustainability, and economic exploitability. Once funding approval and total financing are secured, a legally binding funding contract is concluded and the Film Fund Vienna logo is required on all publications.
