Description
The funding program "Rethinking Worship Landscapes" by the Stiftung Gemeinde im Aufbruch in Hesse is exclusively aimed at non-profit organizations of the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau (EKHN). Over a period of 16 months, innovative worship formats are supported with a 100% grant. In the first phase, the 20 fastest applicant teams receive a quick-start bonus of up to €500 for the conceptual testing of bold impulses. Subsequently, a board of trustees selects one to three projects for additional funding of up to €10,000. Applications can be submitted informally until December 1, 2026; the prerequisite is activity within the EKHN.
Projects that particularly address new target groups such as young people, families, or those distanced from the church, open spaces for encounter, and convey faith in a contemporary manner are especially supported. Eligible expenses include fees for external speakers and experts. Selection is based on the criteria of creativity and courage of the idea, potential to reach new target groups, as well as sustainability and spiritual development. For the application, in addition to an informal application, a project description and, in the case of the quick-start bonus, proof of use must be submitted. Through the funding, congregations, neighborhood spaces, deaneries, and supra-congregational initiatives are to be strengthened in shaping future-proof worship landscapes and sustainably further developing spiritual offerings.
