Description

The Regional Culture funding program of the Free State of Bavaria supports local heritage initiatives and strengthens awareness of traditions by specifically investing in venues for historical homeland plays. Funding is provided for new construction, conversion, expansion, and renovation of event and rehearsal spaces as well as open-air stages that are used at least 80% for historical homeland plays. Applicants such as associations, interest groups, municipalities, foundations, and private individuals with a supraregional scope of activity may apply for a grant at any time. For municipalities, the minimum grant amount is €10,000, and for all other applicants, €5,000. A personal contribution of at least 10% of the eligible expenses as well as proof of financial viability are prerequisites for funding. In the case of renovations, eligible expenses must amount to at least 25% of the costs of a comparable new building, except in the case of elemental damage, where appropriate insurance coverage is required.

The grant amounts to up to 30% of the eligible costs and can be paid out in installments over an approval period of up to 36 months. Eligible costs include construction costs including technical installations, acquisition costs for buildings, personnel and material expenses, travel expenses according to BayRekG, as well as general organizational costs (max. 10%) and imputed labor services (€12.15 to €24.30 per hour, max. 25% of the other expenses). Non-eligible costs include, among others, ongoing maintenance measures, municipal in-house work, expenses for costumes, props, and scenery, as well as expenses for multipurpose halls. A consultation is recommended before submitting the fully completed application on the digital application platform. The approval authority lies with the State Office for Digitization, Broadband and Surveying on behalf of the State Ministry of Finance and for Homeland.
