Support for Visual Arts - Photography

The Visual Arts – Photography Funding Program continuously offers artists in Vorarlberg the opportunity to financially realize projects in the fields of visual and applied arts, photography, and new media. Supported are artistic endeavors such as exhibitions, publications, and annual contributions, as well as starter grants for emerging artists, gallery programs, studio rents or new studio constructions, and art acquisitions. Applications can be submitted at any time, with the art commission convening quarterly for evaluation. Applicants—whether individuals, non-profit organizations, companies, or public institutions—must demonstrate a close connection to the Vorarlberg art scene, whereby artists working externally with a significant Vorarlberg reference are also eligible for funding. The responsible Department of Culture within the Office of the Vorarlberg State Government ensures professional handling of inquiries through clear guidelines and transparent procedures.

Decisive for approval are the artistic quality, relevance to the regional art life, as well as the sustainability and feasibility of the project. To enable a thorough assessment, the fully completed application form must be accompanied by a detailed project description including a financing plan and a current artistic curriculum vitae. The funding is granted as non-repayable subsidies and depends on the funds allocated in the state budget. Additionally, the art commission ensures high artistic quality through expert advice. The program invites artists to further develop their creative ideas and concepts, enrich the cultural landscape of Vorarlberg, and set new impulses with future-oriented projects.
