Description

Under the title Support for Care Costs for Non-Compulsory School-Age Children, the state of Salzburg has been granting direct subsidies indefinitely since April 2023 to relieve family budgets for early childhood care. Funding is provided for cost contributions for children whose main residence is in the state and who are not subject to compulsory schooling. Eligible recipients include public institutions, non-profit organizations, companies, as well as day-care parent providers operating approved early childhood, age-extended groups, or kindergartens. Through the combination of financial support and parental fee replacement, the measure promotes early education and care and strengthens the compatibility of family and work in the state of Salzburg.

A prerequisite for the subsidy is a care agreement that provides for at least two weeks and two days of care per month. For children under three years of age, a financial subsidy towards the parental fee is granted. Non-compulsory school-age children from three years onward, as well as those who immediately after fulfilling compulsory schooling make use of holiday care, are entitled to a parental fee replacement. Funding is granted upon application and is directly offset against the parental fee of the providers. Applications can be submitted continuously; there is no deadline entitlement after the end of the funding year.
