Description
The Caritas Foundation in the Archdiocese of Cologne supports non-profit and public-law organizations in North Rhine-Westphalia that are committed to the Catholic charitable welfare sector. Projects aimed at the sustainable fight against poverty, the integration of marginalized groups, as well as the promotion of children, youth, and families are funded. Eligible to apply are institutions that are either members of the Diocesan Caritas Association for the Archdiocese of Cologne e. V. or operate within the Archdiocese of Cologne in the church-related Catholic welfare sector. The maximum duration is up to 36 months, with the foundation covering up to 90% of eligible personnel, material, and investment costs. Individual emergency aid measures are not within the scope of funding.
A prerequisite for submitting an application is that the project has not yet started at the time of submission, all public-law funding options have been exhausted, and a contribution of at least 10% of the total project costs is provided. The overall financing must be secured, and the project objective must sustainably align with the foundation’s statutory purposes. Decisions are made by the board of trustees in three meetings per year. Applications must be submitted by March 31 (decision in June), July 31 (decision in October), and November 30 (decision in February). Evaluation criteria include statutory compliance, sustainability, own contribution, and completeness of overall financing. A proof of use must be submitted no later than six months after the project’s conclusion.
