Funding of the EH Hamburger Foundation for the Support of Gifted Individuals (Scholarships & Project Funds)

The EH Hamburger Foundation for the Promotion of Gifted Individuals supports outstandingly gifted pupils, students, and postgraduates nationwide with a variety of financial benefits. In the form of scholarships, study and material grants, as well as project funds, it promotes innovative educational and research projects, scientific publications, and events related to the topic of giftedness. The foundation, established in 2009 based on the estate of a Hamburg teacher, enables young talents to undertake practical laboratory stays, international study trips, artistic and scientific endeavors, as well as final theses. Since its inception, 43 gifted individuals have already benefited from the support and have been able to realize research stays at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory or master's programs at Imperial College London, for example.

Eligible for funding are individuals who can demonstrate their giftedness and who either attend a secondary school or are pursuing studies at the master's, doctoral, or habilitation level. Expenses for scholarships, study grants, material resources, publications, and events on educational topics are supported. Applications can be submitted continuously; however, a preliminary inquiry is mandatory before submission. The foundation’s board usually decides on approval within four weeks of application and determines the amount, duration, and payment modalities of the funding. Reporting obligations during and after the completion of the project ensure transparency and quality assurance.
