Description
The funding initiative of the Ellen and Karl-Heinz Hornhues Foundation Pro Africa supports individuals, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations nationwide in the implementation of educational and infrastructure projects related to Africa. The primary focus is on projects in Namibia: farm and bush schools, kindergartens, and scholarship programs for students are continuously funded. At the same time, activities in Germany that enhance understanding of African cultures are recognized – including lectures, school competitions as part of the Osnabrück Africa Festival, and awards for academic theses on the African continent.
Grants are provided as sponsorship and can be applied for throughout the year. Applicants must present an educational or infrastructure project in Namibia or an Africa-related initiative in Germany. Funding is directed towards children and youth, students, as well as educational institutions and associations seeking to realize concrete projects. A distinctive feature is the small-scale funding: existing partnerships and locally tested structures ensure low administrative effort and reliable use of funds.
